BEERHALLA Review

Released on 20th September 2023, BEERHALLA is an interactive stepper crash game from Mancala Gaming. Players progress through a Viking beer hall by selecting kegs, with each successful choice increasing the available multiplier.

A safe keg reveals beer and opens the next step. Selecting a keg containing a skull ends the journey and removes any return that has not already been collected.

BEERHALLA has an RTP of 95%, a maximum multiplier of 3,010.24x and five difficulty settings ranging from Easy to Nightmare.

How to play BEERHALLA

BEERHALLA replaces a continuously rising crash multiplier with a sequence of individual keg selections.

  1. Choose the stake: Enter the amount before beginning the journey through the beer hall.

  2. Select the difficulty: Choose Easy, Medium, Hard, Extreme or Nightmare. The setting determines how many kegs in each step are safe.

  3. Start the round: Confirm the wager to reveal the first selection of kegs.

  4. Choose a keg: Click one of the available barrels. A beer result increases the multiplier and moves the journey forward.

  5. Collect or continue: Cash out the displayed return or risk it by choosing another keg.

  6. Avoid the skull: Revealing a skull ends the game and removes the entire uncollected return.

The five difficulty levels use different ratios of safe and losing kegs:

  • Easy: Three of the four kegs are safe.

  • Medium: Two of the three kegs are safe.

  • Hard: One of the two kegs is safe.

  • Extreme: One of the three kegs is safe.

  • Nightmare: One of the four kegs is safe.

More difficult settings increase the multiplier more quickly because the probability of choosing a safe keg is lower.

The kegs are visually identical before being selected. Position, previous results and apparent patterns cannot identify which one contains the skull.

Players can collect after a successful step. Continuing places the accumulated return at risk again, with a single skull capable of ending the complete journey.

BEERHALLA - Design

BEERHALLA has one of the more interesting premises in Mancala Gaming’s crash collection. Instead of sending another rocket into the sky, it invites the player to work through a Viking tavern one keg at a time.

The artwork establishes the setting immediately. Burly Vikings, wooden barrels, drinking mugs and warm tavern lighting give the room a lively illustrated appearance with a lot of personality.

Colour is used particularly well. Golden lighting and foaming beer contrast against the darker wooden interior, helping successful selections feel warm and rewarding.

The soundtrack may be the strongest part of the presentation. Its boisterous Nordic energy sounds appropriate for a crowded Viking hall and gives each selection more ceremony than clicking an anonymous square.

We particularly like how naturally the theme supports the mechanic. Selecting a keg makes sense within a beer hall, and discovering a skull provides an appropriately grim Viking substitute for a mine or bomb.

The five difficulty settings also alter the visual arrangement of each step. Moving from four kegs with three safe options to four with only one safe choice makes the increased danger easy to understand.

Our main reservation is how static the tavern remains. The artwork is excellent, but the characters and wider room provide less movement than their lively appearance initially suggests.

We wanted the Vikings to react more dramatically, drink from their mugs, celebrate a long run or respond when a skull appeared. Elaborate animations could have made the hall feel genuinely crowded and alive.

BEERHALLA already has the artwork, music and central idea required for a top crash-style game. A little more movement and spectacle would have elevated the complete presentation considerably.

BEERHALLA - Win Potential

BEERHALLA has an RTP of 95%, corresponding to a theoretical house edge of 5%.

The game can reach a maximum multiplier of 3,010.24x. Accessing the highest values requires a long sequence of successful keg selections without revealing a skull.

Difficulty changes the risk attached to every step. Easy offers three safe kegs from four, while Nightmare supplies only one safe option from four.

The easier modes create more frequent successful selections but increase the multiplier at a slower pace. Extreme and Nightmare produce larger jumps in exchange for a much greater chance of ending the journey immediately.

Every successful step introduces another collection opportunity. Leaving at that point settles the stake at the displayed figure, while continuing risks everything accumulated during the current journey.

The maximum multiplier is substantial for a stepper game, but the 95% RTP prevents BEERHALLA from matching the strongest mathematical options in the wider crash category.

What we like

  • Five difficulty levels provide meaningfully different risk profiles
  • Viking artwork and a superb tavern soundtrack give the game a strong identity

What we don't like

  • 95% RTP is pretty underwhelming
  • Characters and background elements remain static throughout

The bottom line

3.6/5

BEERHALLA gives the crash principle a memorable twist, sending players through a Viking tavern one keg at a time: beer raises the multiplier, while a skull ends the round. Five difficulty levels add meaningful variety, and the warm artwork, cartoon Vikings and Nordic drinking music fit the idea exceptionally well.

We wanted more animation and character reactions to bring the tavern to life, and the 95% RTP is disappointing beside stronger alternatives. Even so, its distinctive theme and clear decisions make BEERHALLA a game we would be eager to revisit, including over Mancala’s higher-RTP Hyper Xplorer.
