Cheese Chase Review

Released on 12th May 2026, Cheese Chase is an interactive stepper crash game from Mancala Gaming. A mouse travels across a sequence of mousetraps, collecting cheese and increasing the multiplier after every successful move.

Players can collect the displayed return after a safe step or continue towards the next trap. Triggering a losing mousetrap ends the journey and removes the uncollected amount.

Cheese Chase has an RTP of 95%, four selectable difficulty levels and maximum win potential of 100,000x in Hardcore mode.

How to play Cheese Chase

Cheese Chase uses individual jumps rather than a continuously rising crash multiplier.

  1. Choose the stake: Enter the amount before sending the mouse onto the route.

  2. Select a difficulty: Choose Easy, Medium, Hard or Hardcore. The setting changes the route length, risk and speed of multiplier growth.

  3. Start the chase: Confirm the wager and allow the mouse to make its first move.

  4. Complete a safe jump: A successful step carries the mouse across the next mousetrap, collects cheese and increases the multiplier.

  5. Collect or continue: Use Cash Out to settle the displayed return or press Go to attempt the next jump.

  6. Avoid a losing trap: If the mousetrap activates, the journey ends and the uncollected return is lost.

The four modes use different route lengths:

  • Easy: 24 mousetraps.

  • Medium: 22 mousetraps.

  • Hard: 20 mousetraps.

  • Hardcore: 15 mousetraps.

Shorter routes apply greater risk and larger multiplier increases to each individual step. Hardcore is the only mode capable of reaching the full 100,000x maximum.

The current return can be collected after any successful move. A completed step does not protect that amount if the player chooses to continue and the following mousetrap activates.

Cheese Chase - Design

Cheese Chase is absolutely charming. Its pixel-art mouse, oversized mousetraps and kitchen setting look as though they were lifted from a forgotten 8-bit console game.

The mouse has an expressive little character model despite the deliberately limited graphical style. Every hop feels energetic, and collecting cheese feels rewarding.

The 8-bit style is consistent across the entire game. Background objects, multiplier text, controls and character animations all belong to the same playful pixel world.

The soundtrack completes the presentation. Its upbeat chiptune style matches the graphics perfectly and gives the chase the energy of an early platform game.

Sound effects make each action feel responsive. Cheese collection, multiplier increases and failed jumps all receive recognisable arcade cues.

Most importantly, Cheese Chase is fun to watch. That may sound like a modest achievement, but repeated crash decisions can become dull quickly when the central animation has no personality.

Mancala Gaming has taken a very simple stepper structure and given it an identity we immediately liked. The theme, artwork, movement and soundtrack all pull in the same direction.

Cheese Chase - Win Potential

Cheese Chase has an RTP of 95%, giving the game a theoretical house edge of 5%.

Maximum win potential reaches 100,000x the stake. The full ceiling is attached to Hardcore mode and requires the mouse to complete an exceptionally unlikely sequence of successful jumps.

Easy uses 24 smaller steps. Medium reduces the route to 22, Hard to 20 and Hardcore to 15.

Fewer mousetraps do not make the complete route easier. The probability attached to each step becomes less forgiving, while successful jumps increase the multiplier more quickly.

The choice of mode changes how rapidly risk and potential return develop. It does not remove the 5% theoretical house edge.

What we like

  • Charming 8-bit artwork gives Cheese Chase real personality.
  • Four difficulty levels alter the route length, risk and multiplier progression
  • Chiptune music and arcade effects suit the presentation perfectly

What we don't like

  • Its 95% RTP is less competitive than many modern crash games

The bottom line

4.3/5

We are big fans of Cheese Chase. Its pixel kitchen, 8-bit mouse and dangerous mousetraps work brilliantly with the chiptune soundtrack, making it feel like a miniature arcade game. Four difficulty levels add useful variety, from longer Easy journeys to the faster, riskier Hardcore route.

The drawbacks are mathematical: a 95% RTP, a maximum stake of just 10.00 and a 100,000x headline multiplier tied to an exceptionally unlikely Hardcore completion. Even so, the cohesive presentation and responsive play won us over. Cheese Chase shows exactly how much charm a well-chosen theme can bring to a simple stepper.
