Crash, Hamster, Crash! Review

Released on 13th February 2024, Crash, Hamster, Crash! is a three-way crash game from Mascot Gaming, the studio behind the Tic Tac Toe Games label. Three hamsters stand beneath a flying saucer while their individual multipliers increase.

The aim is to save each hamster before the UFO pulls it away with its tractor beam. All three positions are active during every round, with separate stakes and collection controls attached to each character.

Crash, Hamster, Crash! has an RTP of 95% and a maximum multiplier of 5,000x per hamster. Individual wagers commonly range from 0.02 to 5, creating a total betting range of 0.06 to 15 when all three positions are used.

How to play Crash, Hamster, Crash!

Every round features three hamsters and three individual wagers. Each position can use its own stake and collection target.

  1. Configure the three stakes: Choose the amount attached to each hamster. All three characters remain in play, and the combined cost of the round is the total of their individual wagers.

  2. Choose collection targets if required: An automatic collection multiplier can be assigned separately to each hamster.

  3. Start the round: Press Go after confirming all three wagers. The UFO activates its tractor beam and the multipliers begin increasing.

  4. Watch each hamster: The three positions follow their own results. One hamster may be collected or abducted while another remains active.

  5. Collect individually or together: Press the relevant Collect button to save one hamster, or use Collect All to settle every position that remains active.

  6. Avoid abduction: If the UFO takes a hamster before its wager is collected, the amount attached to that position is lost.

Changing a hamster’s stake also changes its outfit. These costumes provide a visual indication that the amount has been adjusted, but they do not alter the multiplier distribution.

Individual collection controls allow three different approaches during the same round. One hamster can be saved at a modest value while the other two are left exposed to larger multipliers.

Collect All is useful when several hamsters remain active and the player wants to settle them at approximately the same point. Separate collection buttons provide more control but require attention to each position.

Auto Play can repeat the three selected wagers. Automatic collection instructions remain attached to their respective hamster and only activate if its multiplier reaches the chosen value.

Crash, Hamster, Crash! - Design

Crash, Hamster, Crash! has one of the strangest and most original presentations we have seen in this category. Three hamsters stand in a bright field while a flying saucer hovers above them, waiting to drag the unfortunate trio into space.

The premise is ridiculous, but the game commits to it completely. The rising multipliers are treated as a rescue attempt, with each collection saving a hamster before the tractor beam finishes its work.

Our favourite detail is the way the characters change clothes according to the stake. Increasing or reducing an amount gives the associated hamster a different outfit, providing far more personality than a standard numerical stake display.

The Superman-inspired costume is particularly good, dressing one of the hamsters like a tiny caped superhero. The hip-hop gangster outfit is another highlight and may be even more absurd when worn by a nervous rodent awaiting alien abduction.

These costumes make it worth experimenting with the betting controls simply to see what each hamster will wear. They have no mathematical effect, but they prevent the three characters from looking like interchangeable copies.

Crash, Hamster, Crash! - Win Potential

Crash, Hamster, Crash! has an RTP of 95%, giving the casino a theoretical long-term advantage of 5%.

The maximum multiplier is 5,000x for each hamster. Every position has its own stopping result, so the three wagers do not necessarily finish at the same value.

Individual stakes commonly range from 0.02 to 5. Because all three hamsters are active, the practical total ranges from 0.06 to 15 per complete round.

That compulsory three-way format increases the minimum total expenditure compared with a crash game allowing a single 0.02 wager. The three amounts should therefore be added together when deciding how much is being risked.

Separate results allow each hamster to be collected at a different point. An earlier exit on one position can secure a return while the remaining characters continue towards less frequent multipliers.

Collect All settles every active hamster at once. This removes the need to press three buttons in quick succession, although it also prevents the positions from using different manual exit points at that moment.

Automatic collection can assign a separate target to each character. The instruction is only completed if that hamster reaches the selected value before being abducted.

Is Crash, Hamster, Crash! Provably Fair?

Crash, Hamster, Crash! uses provably fair technology to support the verification of completed results.

The game provides cryptographic round information that commits the system to concealed result data before the relevant wager is resolved. The corresponding data becomes available after the round for comparison.

The verifier only applies to completed results. It cannot reveal which hamster will be abducted next or identify a future multiplier before the tractor beam activates.

What we like

  • The alien-abduction premise is different from conventional crash themes
  • Changing the stake gives each hamster a range of amusing outfits
  • Three independent collection controls create more activity within each round

What we don't like

  • The 95% RTP is below that of many competing crash games
  • All three hamsters must be played at all times
  • Monitoring three multipliers and manual collection buttons can become hectic

The bottom line

4.1/5

Crash, Hamster, Crash! is gloriously strange and far more memorable than most crash games. The hamsters’ silly outfits give it a distinctive personality, while three independent positions keep players busy deciding whether to collect individually or rescue the whole group.

That setup is compulsory, so players cannot simplify the round to one wager, and the combined stakes exceed the individual 0.02 minimum. The 95% RTP is also weak beside rivals offering 97% or 98%. Those limitations matter, but the presentation still won us over: this is a simple format surrounded by exactly the right kind of nonsense.
