Gift X Review

Released on 1st December 2023, Gift X is a Christmas crash game from BGaming and was the first of the studio's four festive launches that month. Santa sets off across the winter sky in a reindeer-drawn sleigh packed with presents, and the multiplier keeps rising for as long as he stays in view.

One or two bets can be placed during a short countdown before each flight. Players then decide when to collect, and every successful cash-out drops a present from the sleigh. If Santa flies away first, any bet still riding goes with him.

Gift X has an RTP of 97% and a maximum multiplier of 10,000x, alongside a separate maximum win of €250,000.

How to play Gift X

Each flight is preceded by a five-second betting window, so rounds come round quickly.

  1. Choose the stake: Set the amount on the betting panel. Minimum and maximum stakes are decided by the casino, so they can differ between sites.

  2. Open a second bet if you want one: Add the second panel to place another wager on the same flight.

  3. Set an automatic cash-out: Pick a target multiplier in the settings if you would like the bet collected without pressing anything.

  4. Place the wager: Confirm the bet before the countdown runs out and Santa takes off.

  5. Follow the sleigh: Santa climbs along a graph, with the horizontal axis tracking his time in the air and the vertical axis showing the multiplier currently on offer.

  6. Collect your present: Press Cash Out while Santa is still on screen to receive the stake multiplied by the displayed value. A present drops from the sleigh to mark the collection.

  7. Lose it to the North Pole: Any wager still active when Santa flies off for good is lost.

Two bets per round

Both bets ride on the same flight and finish at the same point. They can be collected at different moments, so one can be taken early while the other stays aboard, but a second bet adds to the total amount at risk rather than giving you a separate result.

Auto Cash Out

Auto Cash Out collects a bet at the multiplier you choose. It only works if Santa actually reaches that value. If he leaves earlier, the bet is lost in exactly the same way as a manual one.

Autoplay

Autoplay repeats a chosen stake for a set number of rounds and can be paired with an automatic cash-out target. It saves pressing the same buttons, nothing more.

Leaderboard

An on-screen leaderboard lists other players' bets and the multipliers they collected at, which is also where most of the falling presents come from. It shows what has already happened in a round. Neither the leaderboard nor any previous flight gives a clue about when Santa will leave next.

Gift X - Design

Gift X is a simple, tidy piece of Christmas decoration. Santa, his sleigh and his reindeer head into a wintry sky with a full load of presents, and that is more or less the whole cast. There is no story beyond the delivery run and no attempt to complicate it.

The best idea in the game is how it handles cashing out. Whenever a player collects, a present drops out of the sleigh. It's a lovely bit of visual bookkeeping that turns a decision you would normally only see as a number in a sidebar into something happening in the scene itself. On a busy round, gifts tumble out at different heights as players bail at different points, and it's genuinely satisfying to watch your own one join them.

It also fits the theme better than most crash dressing. Santa is supposed to be handing out presents, so collecting one before he vanishes makes intuitive sense. Losing a bet becomes Santa flying off with your gift still in the sack, which is about as festive a way to lose as the genre allows.

Beyond that, there is not much else to unwrap. Every flight follows the same basic routine of climbing along the multiplier graph until Santa leaves, and we found the game fairly plain once the novelty of the falling presents wore off. A long, tense round and a short one feel very similar, apart from the number on screen.

That is the biggest missed opportunity. A Christmas Eve delivery run practically writes its own escalation: rooftops and chimneys passing below, snow getting heavier, reindeer straining as the multiplier climbs, or the sack visibly emptying as more players collect. Any of these would have given big rounds a sense of occasion, and the falling presents show BGaming had the right instincts.

The interface is clear and uncluttered. The graph makes the multiplier easy to read, the betting panels sit beneath the action, and the leaderboard keeps a running record of everyone else's stakes and collections. The game is fully optimised for mobile, which suits rounds this short.

Originality is a harder sell. Santa in a sleigh is a natural fit for a rising multiplier, which is exactly why the idea has been used elsewhere, including PopOK Gaming's Xmas Crash a year later. Gift X's falling presents give it a small edge in personality, but the theme also ties it firmly to December. Come February, the tinsel feels a little out of place.

Gift X - Win Potential

Gift X has an RTP of 97%, which gives a theoretical house edge of 3%. That is a competitive return for a crash game. RTP is calculated over an enormous number of rounds, though, and says very little about how a single session will go. Some casinos may also run a different configuration, so the figure on the game's rules screen is the one to trust.

The maximum multiplier is 10,000x, with a maximum win of €250,000. At higher stakes, that monetary cap can be reached well before the multiplier ceiling, so a flight that keeps climbing will not necessarily keep paying.

Minimum and maximum stakes are set by the operator. Every player faces the same flight, and the only lever you control is when you collect.

That choice is where all the risk sits. Cashing out early produces a smaller return but needs Santa to stay airborne for less time. Waiting for a bigger multiplier keeps the whole stake exposed for longer, and a flight can end almost as soon as it begins.

Auto Cash Out removes the need to react in time, but it does not reduce the risk. A target of 3x only pays if Santa reaches 3x, and a flight that ends below the target loses the bet as usual.

Two bets per round do not change the RTP either. Each wager carries the same theoretical return, so a second panel simply puts more money on the same flight. Splitting your exits can change how a round feels, not the house edge.

The leaderboard, other players' collections, past flights and Santa's movement on screen cannot tell you when the next round will end. Each result is independent, and no timing pattern, betting system, bot or predictor can guarantee a profit.

What we like

  • Presents dropping from the sleigh whenever a player cashes out is a charming way to show everyone's decisions during a flight.

What we don't like

  • Away from the falling presents, the presentation offers little that sets it apart from other festive crash games.
  • Long flights look much like short ones, so big rounds lack a real sense of occasion.

The bottom line

3.8/5

Gift X is a pleasant, uncomplicated Christmas crash game with one genuinely good idea. Watching presents fall from the sleigh every time someone cashes out gives each round a little life and ties the theme neatly to the core decision. Santa leaving with your gift still aboard is also a far more charming way to lose than watching a number simply stop.

The trouble is that the presents are almost the whole show. Away from them, Gift X plays and looks like a standard crash game, with the usual two bets, Auto Cash Out and a leaderboard. Longer flights never really build to anything, and the €250,000 cap takes a little shine off the 10,000x ceiling for bigger stakes.

We would happily dip into it during December, ideally with a mince pie in hand. Outside the festive season, there is little reason to choose Gift X over other crash games, but as a seasonal treat with a solid 97% RTP, it does the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

BGaming lists Gift X with an RTP of 97%, equivalent to a theoretical house edge of 3%. Check the in-game rules, as some operators may use a different configuration.

Each falling present marks a player cashing out during the flight. It's a visual record of collections and has no effect on when Santa will fly away.

The multiplier can reach 10,000x, but winnings are also capped at €250,000. Whichever limit is reached first applies.
