Long Ball review

Released in April 2023, Long Ball takes Evoplay’s crash-game formula onto the football pitch. A shot is launched from distance and the multiplier rises as the ball travels towards the goal. Collecting secures the displayed return, while leaving the wager active risks losing it if the ball runs out of flight before reaching its target.

Two independent betting positions allow players to choose different stakes and collection points during the same round. Auto Bet, Auto Cash Out, live chat and a Top-100 leaderboard supply the supporting features, while the 1,000x maximum represents the rare occasion when the long-range attempt successfully reaches the goal.

How to play Long Ball

Long Ball is a multiplayer crash game played across synchronised rounds. Set the stake and submit the wager during the ten-second betting period before the next kick. The default betting range runs from 1 to 1,000 per position, although individual casinos may apply different limits.

  1. Place the bet: Select the required stake and press Bet Now before the countdown reaches zero. A wager submitted while the current round is active will be queued for the following kick.

  2. Watch the ball travel: The multiplier begins at 1.00x and rises as the football moves across the pitch towards the goal.

  3. Collect the return: Press Cash Out while the ball remains in flight. The stake is multiplied by the displayed figure and the wager ends immediately.

  4. Avoid the crash: If the ball stops or the round ends before collection, the active stake and its accumulated value are lost. Long Ball can produce an instant crash at 0, leaving no opportunity to collect.

  5. Reach the target: A successful journey to the goal awards the maximum 1,000x multiplier. This completes the regular round rather than activating a separate bonus feature.

Two betting panels can be used during the same kick. Each one accepts a separate stake and can be collected at a different multiplier. Both positions follow the same ball and finishing result, so an instant crash affects them together.

Opening the second panel increases the total amount committed to the round. It provides another cash-out decision without improving the likelihood of the ball reaching any particular multiplier.

Manual play keeps every collection under the player’s control. The Cash Out button displays the return currently available and remains active until the wager has been collected or the round finishes. A cash-out request made at the same moment as the crash is treated as unsuccessful.

Auto Cash Out collects the associated wager if the ball reaches a multiplier selected in advance. Common versions begin the available targets at 1.10x. Each betting position can use its own instruction, allowing one to be collected earlier while the other remains active.

Auto Bet repeats the chosen stake across a selected number of rounds. Basic stopping conditions can also be prepared through the automatic settings.

Players can prepare a wager for the next kick while the current ball is still travelling. This makes it easier to enter consecutive rounds, although it can also reduce the opportunity to consider the amount already committed during the session.

The All Bets and My Bets panels record multiplayer activity and personal results. A Top-100 leaderboard displays leading achievements, while the chat includes preset phrases, emojis and options for sharing notable results.

The ten-second countdown gives players more time to prepare than many rapid crash games. Once the kick begins, however, the ball moves quickly and a new round follows soon afterwards. Dual bets and Auto Bet can consequently increase the overall rate of wagering.

Long Ball - Design

Long Ball is set inside a large football stadium, with a packed crowd surrounding a brightly illuminated pitch. The ball begins at one end of the field and travels towards a distant goal while the multiplier increases across the main game window.

The basic ingredients are promising. A long-range attempt could have supported dramatic camera movement, a visible striker, defenders attempting to intercept the ball, changes in trajectory and an increasingly animated crowd. Evoplay instead presents the journey in a restrained and largely repetitive way.

The football follows a simple path across the pitch with limited variation between rounds. Its movement communicates the progress of the multiplier, but it lacks the weight, spin and physical momentum expected from a powerful long-distance strike. The animation feels functional rather than convincing.

Greater changes in speed or camera angle could have made higher multipliers feel increasingly difficult to reach. The game maintains the same visual rhythm throughout the flight, so the difference between an ordinary kick and a rare journey towards 1,000x is communicated primarily through the number on the screen.

The crash animation is similarly underwhelming. A failed attempt ends the wager clearly, but the conclusion has little drama and quickly resets for the next round.

Long Ball’s interface is considerably more successful. The multiplier remains prominent, the two betting panels are logically arranged and the Cash Out values are easy to identify. Recent results appear nearby without obscuring the ball’s flight.

The controls and supporting text can look small when the desktop game is played inside a standard browser window. Full-screen mode improves readability, although it also highlights how much of the central game area is occupied by an animation that offers little visual detail.

Mobile screens make the current multiplier and action buttons more prominent. Using a single betting panel also leaves more room for the pitch. Opening chat can cover much of the game, making it impractical to follow messages and manage an active wager simultaneously.

Repetition sets in quickly because the same pitch, trajectory and limited sequence of movements return during every round. Alternative stadiums, weather conditions, shot types or cosmetic footballs could have introduced variety without complicating the underlying crash mechanics.

Evoplay has produced instant games with far more character and animation than Long Ball. The studio had an opportunity to turn the multiplier into a memorable piece of football theatre, yet the finished game settles for a basic ball-flight visualisation. It remains readable and technically clear, but creativity and spectacle are both in short supply.

Long Ball - Win Potential

Long Ball has an official RTP of 96%, equivalent to a theoretical house edge of 4%.

The maximum multiplier is 1,000x, awarded when the ball reaches its target. Evoplay also lists a maximum monetary return of 1,000,000 in its standard configuration, although the casino can impose a lower payout ceiling.

The official betting range runs from 1 to 1,000 per position. Activating both betting panels can therefore commit two separate stakes to the same round.

Long Ball can crash at 0 before the multiplier becomes available for collection. At the other end of the scale, reaching 1,000x is an exceptionally rare result.

Selecting an early Auto Cash Out target creates more frequent opportunities to collect a relatively small return. Waiting for a higher figure succeeds less often and risks losing the entire active wager.

The two betting positions are exposed to the same final multiplier. Using different collection points can divide the total stake between two approaches, but it cannot improve the underlying probability of the ball reaching either one.

What we like

  • Top-100 leaderboard is a nice addition

What we don't like

  • The ball movement and crash animations are disappointingly basic
  • The stadium, crowd and sound design fail to create the atmosphere or spectacle promised by the football theme
  • Evoplay overlooks numerous opportunities for different shots, saves, camera angles, reactions and goal celebrations

The bottom line

3.3/5

Long Ball’s football concept feels ideally suited to crash gameplay, with distance, pressure and a clear target naturally supporting a rising multiplier. Dual betting positions, Auto Cash Out and a ten-second preparation period keep the mechanics accessible, while chat, shared wagers and a Top-100 leaderboard bring some competitive activity to the pitch. Its 96% RTP and 1,000x maximum are reasonable but offer little advantage over similar Evoplay titles.

The presentation fails to capitalise on that promising foundation. Basic ball movement, unconvincing physics and uneventful failures leave the multiplier to create almost all the tension. Different shots, camera angles, crowd reactions or celebrations could have brought the stadium to life, but Long Ball repeats one underdeveloped visual idea. It is mechanically reliable but creatively disappointing.
