Nine blocks, a red gorilla and a city escape plan: StacKing Kong turns a tower of falling shapes into a prize ladder, with extra blocks available along the way.
StacKing Kong is an arcade gambling game developed by Rogue and distributed through Light & Wonder and Playzido. Its Light & Wonder UK and European release arrived on 3 July 2024, introducing the block-building format later used in Bling Kong.
A red gorilla climbs a tower of falling blocks beside a skyscraper, with higher positions offering larger prizes. The opening wager provides nine blocks, after which players can accept their return or purchase additional blocks to continue.
The UK/EU release has an overall RTP of 94.38% and a maximum prize of 250x the base stake. StacKing Kong also won Most Innovative Online Game at the 2025 Eilers & Krejcik Gaming Slot Awards.
Set your opening stake. Choose an amount within the casino’s limits. This establishes the prize values and buys the first nine blocks.
Start building. Confirm the wager to release the blocks. Their shapes are selected randomly, and they fall automatically.
Watch the tower develop. Kong climbs as the stack grows. A piece can fill a gap without increasing the height, so another block does not necessarily mean another prize.
Check the outcome. When the blocks have finished falling, review the highest prize reached and the total amount staked.
Consider the extra-block offers. Where available, choose between buying one, two or three more blocks at the displayed prices. Each option adds to the cost of the round.
Finish and take the return. Decline further purchases when you want to stop. Only the highest cash prize reached is paid, and reaching the top also ends the game.
Bonus positions on the ladder award extra blocks. The published rules specify +2-block awards, which add pieces to the remaining supply.
Further purchases are offered only where a higher win is possible and the potential win exceeds the purchase price. That condition does not guarantee a profitable purchase or recover money already spent.
StacKing Kong uses one tower and one starting stake. The decisions concern whether to pay for more blocks after a batch, rather than when to interrupt a continuously rising multiplier. Turbo mode, where available, speeds up the action.
A round can leave you with a loss even if Kong keeps climbing. The amount collected must exceed your opening stake and all additional purchases for you to finish ahead.

The design was StacKing Kong’s biggest selling point for us. There is plenty of charm in this oversized red gorilla making his way through a city, and the comic-book treatment gives the game an identity before you have understood a single rule.
Purple buildings frame the blocks, while helicopter searchlights and illustrated cutaways add to the escape scenario. A television reporter appears in a breaking-news panel, giving the proceedings the air of a city emergency that nobody is particularly well equipped to handle. It is a fun setting for the character, and the bold artwork suits the slightly ridiculous premise.
The climb also connects neatly with the prize ladder. Kong’s position shows your progress through the building, while the irregular shapes make each new piece worth watching. You can understand the visual objective immediately: build higher. Understanding whether doing so is worth the extra money takes longer.
That was our sticking point. We found the premise confusing at first, much as we did with its sequel Bling Kong. Coming from conventional crash games, it is natural to expect some sudden event to wipe out the active round. Here, the significant decision is whether to pay again for a chance to improve the return.
We would have welcomed a more prominent explanation of that distinction. The total-staked information is useful, but a straightforward demonstration of a higher prize still producing an overall loss would have helped us grasp the format sooner. A new idea deserves a little more introduction than a familiar one.
There is a clear family resemblance to Bling Kong, but this original has its own comic escape story. We liked that personality, and the unusual format deserves credit even where its explanation leaves room for improvement.

StacKing Kong has an overall theoretical RTP of 94.38%, equivalent to a 5.62% house edge. The rules give extra block purchases a separate RTP of 94.34%, corresponding to a 5.66% house edge.
These percentages describe long-term mathematical returns across a very large volume of play. They do not promise a particular result for your session, and buying additional blocks does not improve the published return.
The maximum prize in the Light & Wonder UK/EU release is 250x the base stake. It is a payment figure before accounting for the cost of the climb. Every extra purchase must be included when calculating whether the round actually made a profit.
This is the part that matters most. A bigger prize can be accompanied by an even bigger increase in spending. Reaching another floor is visually satisfying, but it does not automatically improve your financial result.
Opening stakes commonly range from 0.10 to 25, depending on the operator. The maximum base stake does not limit the combined cost of the opening wager and subsequent purchases. Any casino-specific monetary payment restriction should also be checked separately from the 250x prize ceiling.
The block shapes are randomly selected from a weighted set, and pieces fall into the lowest available position. There is no manual placement skill that makes the next piece more rewarding. Waiting before confirming a purchase does not change its odds, either.
The tower-building format gives you control over whether to spend more. It does not remove the possibility of a losing round or the underlying house edge. Previous results and the surrounding comic action cannot predict which shape will arrive next.
StacKing Kong earns its place through character and originality. The comic-book escape was the main attraction for us, and building a route for a giant red gorilla gives the familiar pursuit of a higher prize a different feel. We can see why it picked up an innovation award: there is a worthwhile idea here, with enough charm to make us want another look.
Our reservations are much the same as with Bling Kong. The cost of continuing needs a clearer introduction, and the modest RTP makes it difficult to praise the value as enthusiastically as the design. Still, we would rather give a distinctive concept time to make sense than dismiss it for being unfamiliar. The appeal is the unusual experience, provided you keep an eye on what each extra batch costs.
The Light & Wonder UK/EU release has an overall RTP of 94.38%. Its rules specify 94.34% for extra block purchases.
The documented UK/EU release offers a top prize of 250x the base stake. Additional block purchases reduce the net profit from any prize you collect.
No. Shapes are selected randomly and fall automatically. Your main choice is whether to pay for more blocks or finish with the available return.
